Sammy is a handsome sweet loving boy who’s left by his family of 8 years after they moved. He will be turning 9 at the end of February and is still waiting for his forever home. He is extremely friendly and sweet with everyone….people, kids, dogs and even cats. He is a real sweetheart with a silly and funny personality that will bright up your days. He got lots of love to give and is very curious and smart and learns very quick despite his age. He loves food, so training is easy but he is also a little stubborn….he knows how to get to you and have things done his way (get extra treats, get on furniture, get on the bed, come to you when he is called, etc…) Thus, we think and consider he needs a stronger leader in his pack; not that he is not well behaved, but he is a natural born leader.
He does very good on walks and has also learned to run along on bicycle rides. However, we have been slowing down his exercise routine since he has arthritis on his knees and sometimes it hurts and he limps. But it is important to manage his weight so frequent walks are important. He also got a cornial ulcer on his left eye and recovered; however, there is a little opaque spot on his left eye, but it does not impair his vision.
Recently, we have also come to discover that he knows how to open door handles; he is an expert on it. It is hilarious!
Even though he is 8, Sammy is a high energy dog when it comes to exercise or play time. He has gotten crazyyyyy when playing, super agile and active....he has the body and energy of a young dog. This being said, he loves exercise. Also, Sammy loves attention and is very sweet and loving, but he is very smart and stubborn! So he knows how to get to you and have things done his way (get extra treats, get on furniture, get on the bed, come to you when he is called, etc...) Thus, we think and consider he needs a stronger leader in his pack; not that he is not well behave, but he is a natural born leader.
From what we have learned so far, he will not do well being left alone for long periods of time or being crated...he has never been crated according to his papers. During the first three days with us, he was peeing inside the house. Now he is doing well. But he drinks a lot of water and we take him out 4 to 5 times a day not counting the 1 hour for exercise.
Sammy is a handsome sweet loving boy who is extremely friendly with everyone. He has met a lot of people, kids, and dogs every since he arrived to his foster home and has always been the sweetest dog. He is very curious and smart and learns very quick. He loves food, so training is easy and he is very active and playful. He does very good on walks and is currently learning to run along on bicycle rides; he has almost mastered it :)
My name is Sammy and unfortunately I have been left by my family of 7 years when they moved. I am a really good, laid back boy who likes everyone and all animals. I know basic commands and really would just like to chill around the house. Come back and check me out as my foster family gets to know me.
