Meet Sarge! An adorable 12-month old male Pitbull mix who ended up on the euthanasia list in a California shelter for having kemnel cough. Watch his video to see him play with a male and female dog... he's so friendly! When he went to the vet though, he was very scared. He had to be brought out on a catch pole and the people weren't very compassionate with him. Once he got to his foster home in Seattle, he started to come out of his shell... Foster Update: Sarge was very scared when he got off of transport but he has adjusted quite well in his foster home. He is currently bunking with two large male dogs and gets along well with them as well as all dogs he meets. He greets dogs with a loose relaxed wag. He is a young energetic dog - 1 year old - and his DNA test revealed he is 1/2 Pitbull and also has some German Shepherd and Husky in him. His coat is lab like, and he will need brushing. He really enjoyed his bath in his foster home. He likes to run around and play with toys and chew on bones. He does very well in the crate (quiet: no barking) and is house-trained now! Sarge is nervous about meeting strangers -- he will growl a little bit and needs new people to let him come to then. We are working on this with confidence-building and desensitization. He is an absolute love bug in our home and very affectionate to us! He will do well with a confident owner who can give him a lot of love, exercise, training, and affection. Young and healthy - 1-year old or younger - neutered male Well-mannered and appropriate with other dogs Has not been assessed with cats Beautiful coat will require regular brushing Healthy energetic lab like personality Lacking confidence, cautious and some fear meeting new people Crate trained and house-trained -- quiet in the crate Walks well on a leash - not leash reactive Adoption Info: Sarge is neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations, microchipped and in good health. His adoption fee is $450 and that includes all of his veterinary care, transport costs from California and Seattle, and goes to support the rescue of other animals that need to be saved. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to meet Sarge.
