Basic information Sassy was brought in as an owner’s surrender due to owner becoming homeless and having nowhere to house her animals. Owner has had Bronx for the past four years after her dog had a litter of puppies. Owner says Sassy does not have any injuriesor health concerns, and was last seen by the vet two years ago. Socialization & Behavior Sassy is described as being somewhat aggressive when around strangers; she’ll bark and sometimes attempt to lunge at them. Sassy has lived with an 8 and 12 year old, and owner says she is very playful and affectionate with them. Sassy is said to be playful and affectionate with the M Rottweiler she lives with, but owner says she growls and attempts to lunge at dogs in passing. Owner says there have been no past issues of Sassy biting anyone or another animal. Sassy becomes nervous during thunder storms, owner says she’ll begin to howl and cry. Owner says Sassy is unbothered if she touches her food and possessions and will stop and wait for her to finish. Sassy is unbothered if disturbed while sleeping, and tolerates baths. Sassy does not like nail trims and will attempt to bite at the clipper. Sassy normally attempts to lunge if someone approaches the home or owner while out. For a New Family to Know Sassy is described as affectionate, playful, and mellow with a low activity level. When home she is normally following her owner and enjoys toy balls. She was kept mostly outdoors having free reign of yard space. Sassy is fed a mix of wet and dry, owner mixes Pedigree with gravy train. Sassy is house-trained using the bathroom outside and never has accidents. She is said to be behaved when home alone and when in the yard alone. Sassy understands commands sit, stay, and eat and pulls on leash. Behavior during Intake Sassy growled when approache dby counselor. She soon calmed, but became uncomfortable being photographed and begin to growl and bark at counselor. No further handling was conducted.
