When Bosco's favorite kennel buddy approaches his run, he cries for her to take him out for a walk - he lives for those walks that happen only once or twice a week. Being at the kennel after spending a year in a home has been a hard adjustment for this poor boy.
Bosco was adopted & lived in an apartment, having a great time with his mom & dad. You can see him lazing on the couch with his dad - doesn't he look happy & relaxed? But Bosco didn't do well with other dogs he met on walks & in the building so he was returned to EHR. We are hoping to find a new home where Bosco will feel more secure & perhaps will not need to feel afraid of other dogs. A home with a backyard would be perfect for this adorable Schnauzer mix boy who is 3 years old & who weighs 40 pounds - he's woolly & reminds me of a big black sheep! :)
Bosco is a wonderful boy - he's housebroken and knows a few of the basic sit and stay commands. He is very good in the car and has put up with a good number of multi-hour car trips over the last year with his family. Because he may react around other dogs, he would be best suited to a single family home, hopefully with some private outdoor space. Bosco absolutely loves being outside and will stay out for as long as possible. He's a great walker who doesn't tug on the leash, and will stick by your side as you're walking.
Bosco's temperament around the house is very subdued and quiet. He loves being around people and will follow you all over the house or sit right by your side on the couch. We do feel that he would be all right with older, respectful children, 10 years & up. In the past he has been able to get along with a female dog, but he would be happiest as the only pet living in his home.
Here's what Bosco's kennel buddy has to say about him: "Bosco was super easy to leash and came out no problem. We walked the whole trail and he was very easy on leash….he did a lot of sniffing. I sat on the bench and after a bit, he stood on my lap. He went back to his run without an issue and I found him to be easy to deal with! He takes treats nicely, too!"
Do you have a place for Bosco in your home & heart? If you do, please fill out an application & be sure to mention his name! We would love to see this boy out of the kennel & back in a home environment as soon as possible!
If you can't adopt, please consider taking him temporarily as a foster dog - he could really use a break from kennel life. Bosco would REALLY love to be back in a home again!
