Serena is a beautiful calico domestic short hair. She is a sweet, sweet, petite lady in need of a new home. Serena was originally adopted from Fancy Cats and her current owner has returned her due to an employment situation and the need to move out of state. She is looking for a permanent foster home because she has some chronic health issues. This means that FCRT pays for all medical costs and you provide food, litter, and lots of LOVE.
Serena is happiest in a quiet home with a space to call her own. While she does not mind being around other cats or around people, and likes to be held and petted, Serena is happiest in her own space, maybe the floor of a large closet or bedroom, and prefers to have her own food dish and water away from other cats (she doesn’t mine sharing if they are in need of a snack, however). She likes to drink running water, so be careful not to let her get dehydrated if you have only a water dish for her. A fountain works well or just let the bathtub trickle for a while when she asks for it to make sure she gets enough to drink. She not only drinks from the bathtub, she likes to use the water in her grooming. Serena is very talkative, not with loud meows but with quiet murmurs, and if you are willing to listen she will tell you what she needs in her own quiet way.
Serena will not eat canned cat food, and has a sensitive tummy. Recently she was diagnosed with a thyroid problem and now requires daily medication. She does best on a high quality grain free dry food diet such as Halo or Wellness. A finicky eater, she will sometimes stop eating – her way of telling you to try a different flavor for a while. She prefers to self-feed rather than have a prescribed mealtime – she eats when she wants to not when you think she should. Serena doesn’t care much for snacks but is a fan of catnip toys. She is a day sleeper and likes to play a lot at night. Don’t be surprised to find her lying on your chest in the middle of the night, purring loudly. Serena can be playful and silly, and is lovable and sweet. She is a peacemaker, always running to see what is the matter when she hears kitty arguments, but is never cross or aggressive. Serena needs to be with a human who can understand her needs and give her a quiet safe place to be. Are you that person?
