COURTESY LISTING - NOT AN ECHO FOSTER DOG!
Seymour is a beautiful 2 year old, White German Shepherd Dog and he is available for adoption
through Second Chance Animal Rescue. Seymour had a rough start to life as he was adopted off Craigslist at 5 months old with no previous vet care, a belly full of worms, malnourished and with mange. He’s come a long way in the year and a half, has grown into a beautiful and healthy, smaller (65 lbs.) GSD and is now looking for his perfect family. Seymour has a great, friendly personality and loves people, but he still has his puppy energy and could use some work on his greetings. Because of his age and temperament, he should not be in a home with small children. He would do better with adults and children over the age of 12.
Seymour has a high prey drive and is very reactive with other dogs. He currently lives with 2 cats
and an 8 year old Golden Retriever, but he chases the cats and tries to dominate the golden. He did respond to training for his reactivity, so a strong handler should be able to work with him to
where it is not as much of a problem. He will need clear, consistent boundaries and leadership. He
will not be a dog park dog, but would be a great addition to a younger adult household who is
willing to spend the time to work with him to build his confidence and give him the exercise he
needs to ensure he doesn’t get bored. Training and a fenced yard will be essential. He can’t quite
be trusted not to counter surf or get into the trash when left alone, so would need to be crated
when unsupervised, but he loves his kennel and is fine to stay in there as needed.
Seymour is crate trained, housebroken, UTD on his shots, microchipped, has received 8 training
lessons at Off-Leash K9 and knows basic obedience. He comes with his crate, his elevated food and water bowls, and his e-collar and leashes. Off-Leash K9 has generously offered a refresher starter lesson for his new family upon adoption. We are also waiving his adoption fee and are instead suggesting a donation to the rescue in any amount on his behalf.
Seymour is a typical GSD teenager who requires an experienced owner to work with him to develop his confidence and give him the structure he needs. His potential shines through the minute you meet him and he will make a wonderful addition to the right family. We are taking applications from families with a fenced yard and no other animals or small children. Previous GSD
experience is preferred.
