Adoption fee is $150, this dog is approx. 4-6 yrs old and is about 37 pounds
This sweet girl came in as a rack of bones weighing in at 27 lbs. Her heartless waste of air of a owner moved away and left her chained in the back yard. She was found once a companion dog not chained started escaping the yard to look for food. Then they discovered her in knee high grass in the yard on a chain without food or water for what is believed to be at-least 2 weeks thankfully it had rained off and one throughout both weeks which was probably her only savior. It was also discovered there where other pets left locked inside the house.
Skinny Minnie was the only one from this situation that came to us. She was so week the first few days she would stumble sideways when she walked. She has recovered well and has been treated for the fleas and tick and skin issues that came along with her neglect. Thankfully she was heartworm negative and her bloodwork came back good as well. She is as sweet and loving as they come with still having the huskitude in moderation. She does fine with the other dogs but does guard her food with other animals. She is steadily gaining weight and looking better and feeling better daily. She came in with and still has a slight head tilt, the vet examined her ears and eyes and felt her neck etc. No significant findings where made it is a presumed old injury, possibly head or neck trauma in the past getting hit by a car or something. The vet said even with a very expensive MRI it may or may not give answers and it is not causing a medical concern so there was not really a need to proceed with more testing. The only thing that was noted was a slight difference in her pupils reaction to light with both eyes at the same time, which is very common with the breed also, and was only noticeable when the spot light was being put right to her eyes and removed. (Anisocoria is the fancy name for it). She came in Late May 2016 which are the 3rd and 4th photo.. The 1st two photos where taken at the end of June 2016
Personally I would love for her to not to of had to endure what ever trauma that caused the slight tilt but it makes her cuter and awesome for photos :-P
If you think you could give this wonderful girl a loving home she deserves that would be wonderful.
All of our Husky/Northern breeds require a home visit for us to check out the fence and give tips on containment if needed. You can quicken your adoption process by sending us some yard pics, focusing on the fence lines after you send your application.
Please keep in mind if you want to own a husky you need to be open to the fact that containing this dog may require you to install a hot wire system (cost approx $100) this is quite often needed to preventing digging climbing or chewing through fences. A Hot wire is typically the best route to start with for a piece of mind. Some of our dogs we will require this prior to adoption due to known escape habits or the type of fencing you have. Installation is simple and can be done in under 2 hours on most yards.
Northern breeds are beautiful dogs but are also a challenge and demanding and can be very destructive and hard to contain when there needs are not met. Please learn a little more about the breed on our home page. Also we likely have other Huskies or Malamutes for adoption find out by visiting www.petangelsrescue.org.
The adoption fee is $150. This dog has had its age appropriate Vaccinations brought up to date with Rabies shot (4 m & older), heartworm tested (4 m & older) and/or started on prevention, basic dewormer, spayed or neutered and microchipped by 24Petwatch with free registration , and also comes with 30 days of free 24Petwatch Pet Insurance .
