Some Things About Skye
Hi! I’m Skye, and I am just the happiest pup! Yup, I have a smile on my face at all times, and it’s actually contagious, because when I smile at people, they can’t help but smile right back. When I play with my doggy friends during the day and snuggle with my foster family at night, I am in seventh heaven! Sometimes, my zest for life and meeting people can get me excited, and I can be a bit jumpy – I’m a lover and enjoy planting big kisses, sometimes right on people’s faces (lick lick). Because of this, we feel I’d do best in a home with children over the age of 10. My enthusiastic nature shines like beautiful stars in the sky, we would just like for me to keep all four paws on the ground while exerting it, so we are working on that and making great pawgress (woof woof)! Enough of the fun-loving side of me… I also have fantabulous practical behaviors. For one thing, I have not had a single bathroom accident since arriving in my foster home. And, I do very well in my crate. When I hear the command “crate”, I simply sashay right into it, lie down on my bed, and enjoy the luscious Kong or Nylabone that is given to me – treats are just heaven on earth, aren’t they?!?
I’m also athletic – I’ve been told that I’d likely excel in agility (the Skye is the limit for this girl!). I love going on walks and hiking – and both help me use some of my excess, puppy-like energy. I enjoy the company of other dogs, from playing, to snuggling, to grooming them (yes, I even lick my furry foster brother while he’s sleeping – and I think he secretly enjoys it!). I can have a tendency to play rough with other dogs and as of yet don’t completely understand that I shouldn’t pounce on small dogs, so I need to be in a home with dogs closer to my size.
Sadness filled my heart when my family no longer had time for me and dropped me off at a shelter. My time was running out, and gratefully FernDog swooped in and saved the day (and my life)! I’ve been on cloud nine ever since and enjoying my shining new journey. I’m an 18-month-old, 40-lb, itty-pitty/boxer mix, and in my heart and soul, I still sometimes believe I’m a lap dog.
Skye’s Typical Day
Our mornings consist of first going out for potty, then eating a breakfast of champions, and next some playtime with my furry foster brother – some days, we even have doggie visitors come by who I get to play with too. Our days have varied lately, and my foster mom says I’ve been good at going with the flow. For example, sometimes she’s home all day, so we have extended playtime and go for more walks. I actually carry a backpack during my walks – and once that backpack is one me, I’m focused and ready to strut. I walk fairly well on a leash, only pulling when I catch sight of one of nature’s little critters. Other days, my foster mom is out of the house longer, so when that happens, I happily stay in my crate with my favorite chew toy and treats. I enjoy my playtime, and my foster mommy does too, because that helps to put me in a more relaxed state and get ready for snuggle-time. Before bed, I go out for potty with my furry foster brother, and then I sleep in my crate in my foster parent’s bedroom. I prefer not to be alone at night and feel really comfortable with this arrangement, so I’m very happy they understand and embrace it. To sum it up, even though our days vary, this is for certain: Every day is full of snuggles, kisses, love, play, and fun!
Skye’s Forever Home
As you can tell, I’m super joyful in my foster home, but my forever home is out there waiting for me… I just know it! I heard a saying that goes like this: “Only from the heart can you touch the sky.” Well, if you give me your heart, just think, you’ll be able to touch the “Skye” each and every day – getting lots of love, kisses and snuggles! Would you be able to provide me with an atmosphere full of love, activity, comfort and a breakfast of champions? And, of course, appreciate my zest for life? If so, please contact FernDog… I’d be simply over the moon to find my forever family.
