Sophie is a beautiful lab mix. She is approximately 4 years old and came to rescue from a rural shelter in New Mexico. CCR has been told she is a lab mix breed mix, but that is just a guess made by shelter staff, rescue volunteers, and our veterinarians.
Sophie is very shy and will take a bit to adjust to new situations. She can be fearful of men at times. Sophie would do best in a home that will allow her time to adjust and have a kennel or spot to retreat to when she is feeling overwhelmed. When Sophie does adjust she loves to get excited and give kisses. She likes to get hugs from her humans. She loves to go for walks. It does take her time to play with toys. She loves to go for walks, and walks nicely on a leash. She loves to go to the dog park and does good off leash after adjusting, otherwise she is good on a leash at the dog park as well. She likes to go into the water at the dog park. She takes treats nicely. She sleeps on a dog bed at night. She does go in her kennel when her foster parents are gone. She does not mind cats and is good with other dogs. If there not being to rambunctious in the house. She likes to play with other dogs in the yard. Sophie has been through a training program to help build confidence, she is doing better. She has also learned lots of obedience and commands including, sit, down, come, stay, leave it, and polite leash skills. She still needs time, patience and training to continue to build her confidence.
If you are interested in adopting Sophie, please submit an adoption application located on our website, coloradocaninerescue.org. We are asking for a $175 adoption donation. She is spayed, housebroken, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter.
