Please fill out an application form. DON'T fill out the email or other choices here. http://awos.petfinder.com/shelters/ON258.html has the application link on the front page. If we do not receive an application your email will be deleted. Our time is spent caring for these dogs, sometimes as many as 30 - 40 dogs at a time, and you show us serious intent to adopt when you take the time to fill out the application. Thank you for your understanding.
If there is a date next to the dog's name that is the expected arrival date. EVERYTHING we know about these dogs is on their bio. Please don't email asking for more info - we don't have any.
Please bookmark the site so YOU can check on the dog's status, updates if any etc. That's where we put everything we know about them.
We do not adopt to homes with no fenced area for the dog. They are a flight risk in the early weeks and we have the same goal - a safe, happy, healthy dog.
Sept 16/16 Sparky is an owner surrender. A woman was given the dog as an 8 week old puppy by an abusive husband who uses the dog to keep control of her knowing she loves the dog. .She spends 2hrs a day wearing him out but she is the one worn out now. With a 4yr old son as well at stake she did her best by this dog.
She is leaving him and the future is uncertain for the next little while for her and her 4 yr old son and she wont leave the dog with the husband. Please help get her mind rested knowing that Sparky is safe and loved. This is what she says about him
Sparky is a one year old male husky lab mix. I have had him just under one year, he is such a happy go lucky spirit, super friendly and silly in a dog sense. Sparky doesn't fail to put a smile on my face when I'm down or upset he will put his paws on my knees and before I know it he's in my lap as if to say don't worry it's going to be okay.
Sparky loves to be apart of everything going on in the house from laying beside my 5 year old son while he plays with his toys, laying at my feet while I cook or even when I go to the bathroom he always is right there, he is friendly with other dogs and very curious his ears perk up and tail wags as soon as he spots a bird or squirrel. He has not had a lot of practice off leash but seems to come back with no problems the times he's been off at the beach and park, loves to play fetch with sticks he gets very happy when we're walking and finds a random stick on the ground,(it actually makes me lol to see how excited he gets over a stick).
Sparky deserves an owner that will have lots of time for him he doesn't like to be left alone to long, I can't return the effort and time sparky is owed and that is why I have to give him up he deserves the best love and devotion.
He will be tempted to chew shoes, paper and other random things left laying around, has an obsession for his konga ball.
He listens to sit, give five and working on lay down.
n owner that has lots of time for him.
He loves to play fetch with sticks they are his favourite things to play with at the beach or park, he loves to sleep on the floor at the side of my bed he will follow me around the house and constantly step in my feet he is so close. He is friendly with other dogs very curious about little animals he sees out side like squirrels birds ect he has never met a cat though. He is very friendly with kids as well he likes to lay on floor beside my son while he plays with his toys
Sparky will jump up on me at random times to get my attention and then sit and look up at my with this very dopey smile
He has a thing for chewing! not furniture or anything g like that, but def has a thing for shoes, papers and plastic.
He listens to sit, give five and lay down for most part, constantly wagging his tail he is a free spirit and very happy dog.
Off leash he will not listen to every command but is slowly improving.
ALL our dogs are HW tested neg (HW TREATED dogs are marked as such), have full vetting paperwork and obviously get along with other dogs since there are about 40 of them here on any given day.
We do a microchip clinic the first Sunday of each month for $40 to raise money to pay the bills for the rescues but will chip on day of adoption.
The Adoption Donation you give includes spay/neuter (except puppies under 6 mos), all shots, Heartworm test, deworming/parasite by us at least once and is $500.
NOTE: Puppies too young to fix are adopted out ON A 'FOSTER TO ADOPT' BASIS ONLY UNTIL S/N COMPLETED and proof is required to have the contract changed to ownership. You are responsible for spaying or neutering at the 6 mo point.
Please, if you want to adopt a dog - we require you take up to 24 hrs 'think about it' time and when an aggreement is reached you take the dog home as within 24 hrs. We can not 'hold' adopted dogs "til the weekend" or you "are back from holidays" UNLESS you wish to make a $40/night donation to cover their stay as there are many, many other dogs dying in shelters who need that space.
For coonhounds and beagles only :
If the dog you just looked at is a Coonhound or Beagle here's a little more info - A lot of people think Coonhounds and Beagles are stupid but they're not! They are just joyous dingbats for sure but very trainable. They are funny, happy clowns. They also do NOT spend all their time howling or baying. They are extremley quiet dogs but when they let one rip everyone knows it ;-)) and the sound is beautiful! So much nicer than a high pitched yap any day.

Rude owner of the company. She is vile and is completely unprofessional in her communication. If it wasn't for the animals, I would say to never give her money.
