“Actually, I’ve been on hold for a while, because I was extremely underweight and ill. My foster mom has poured her heart (and lots of treats and food) into me, and now I’m a healthy 25 pounds! Check out my sleek physique!
A handsome 1 year old black lab mix, I was terrified of everyone (and everything) when I arrived. Luckily, I have a super patient foster mom who has helped me overcome some of my STAGEfright (get it?). I’ve spent time at other fosters’ homes with other doggies and other kitties. I even (almost) enjoyed a car ride! I met two new people just today and was able to snuggle! I’m telling you, these ‘hoomans’ have made a new man… er… dog out of me!”
Stage is still nervous around new people and situations, and he will require patience from his adopters to continue to help him build confidence. He would likely do well having another dog in the home with him.
Stage's initial vet visit resulted in a positive heartworm test. He is undergoing treatment and will be neutered once he tests negative. The treatment and neuter are included in his adoption fee.
Stage is also diagnosed with diabetes insipidus (DI) - an incurable condition that causes intense thirst/urine output. He is medicated for it and it does not require any special diet. A doggie door may be helpful, but he's housetrained, if not. The medication runs about $30/month.
