Shy, Sweet, Hopeful Sterling is a petite, sweet kitty with a feather-soft gray and white coat. The shelter is a scary place for her, but she tries her best to be brave. She won't back away if you reach to pet her. Instead, she'll peer up at you with gentle eyes that reflect a combination of uncertainty and hope. Give her some reassuring strokes and soon enough you'll hear her quietly purring! You'll feel as good as she does, knowing that your touch just may be replacing disturbing memories with happy ones. Sterling is FeLV+ (Feline Leukemia Virus), which causes a weakened immune system and requires special care. APA! provides some medical assistance after adoption. Cats with FeLV typically have a shortened lifespan. Sterling is not contagious to people or dogs, but should live only with other FeLV+ cats. For more information, please contact APA! or read more by our Partner, Best Friends Animal Society: http://bestfriends.org/Resources/FAQs-About-Feline-Leukemia-Virus-FeLV An ideal home for Sterling would be a quiet, calm one where she is able to come out of her shell at her own pace as she learns to trust. We have every reason to believe she'll be an affectionate, loving kitty once she does. If you'd like to meet Sterling, come by the APA Feline Leukemia Adoption Center for a visit. You'll likely find Sterling curled up in one her favorite spots waiting, wondering and hoping that the next kind heart that she meets will be the one that takes her home!
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. For further information or to meet this kitty, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
