STEVIE RAY (Snohom.Co.) Super smart,active,sweet

Shepherd

Stevie Ray...but everyone calls him Stevie is a high energy, smart and loving pup that wants nothing more than to be with his people. His favorite thing to do besides sit in your lap is play fetch. He will play all day if you are willing to throw the ball. The other toys he likes are his Kong and rope, tug of war is his other go to game. He enjoys walks, hikes and just plain running around. He has been known to race through the house to burn off extra energy, just tuck in your toes and stay out of the way.His Heintz 57 mix has given him a high prey drive and he will remember where he saw everything and look for it. The cat the last time we were out, the bird on our last walk or the neighbor walking. He will sit for hours looking out the back window for the bunny. He has learned to play by himself and likes to go in the kennel on sunny days and run around and watch the birds and squirrels. He is house trained and will let you know he needs to go out by standing at a door. He can go for a good 12 hours if need be. There have not been any accidents in the house. His house manners are great. He does not get on counters or take things off even though he can certainly reach things. He is inquisitive and likes to sniff around at everything. He is not a big barker. His barking is mostly as a warning, like a doorbell and at other animals. He is crate trained and will go in on the command “crate” and waits to come out until you tell him “ok”. I have not left him alone in the house for any length of time but I assume he would jump on my bed and sleep until I returned. He thrives on routine and positive reinforcement. He took a bit to realize he was staying with me long term but once he settled in he bonded to me like any loyal canine companion does. He looks for me out the window at my parents’ house around the time I should be coming home from work, he follows me around the house and he knows when I’m packing and will lay on whatever clothing has made it to the floor. He sleeps right next to me on the bed, he does wait for me to get settled and tell him it’s ok to get up, or in my lap while watching TV. He would rather lay at my feet than on his big fluffy dog bed 6 feet away. As I said before he is smart and knows the difference between my house and my parents. He sleeps on the floor there without fuss and does not get on the furniture. He will adapt to whatever you decide is going to be his normal. I can’t say enough good things about Stevie. He has the kindest eyes and likes to just stare into yours. He is so loving and will rub you with his head like a cat. He is gentle and sweet, the way he sets his toy down for you and then just looks at you and waits is endearing. Oh and he talks! He will tell you like it is and definitely talks back.Training as we all know is ongoing and repetitive. We have gotten lax on some things but the things we do on a regular basis he has down without issue. He walks well on the gentle leader but does like to be out front. Knows the command “back” at the door, “Sit” and “wait” he knows, Sometimes “down”, “Off” is a work in process. Continually working on door etiquette, Getting better with “drop it”. Miscellaneous: Prefers the Dremel for his nails, Does well with baths outside or at the do it yourself bath places, Loves peanut butter, Prefers the front seat, Waits to eat his food until you tell him “ok”.
