Foster Home Feedback
10/9/16: Precious Svea has been with us almost a year. It's hard to believe it's been that long. She is such a different little dog since she came to us a year ago. Her personality has really come out and in the morning is almost like a little, wild pup. She gets so excited to go outside and to have her breakfast, it's so adorable! Svea really likes canine company but I think she would do fine with cats and with or without dogs. She needs a quiet, patient home. I feel a home with children may not be a good fit for her. Svea is an older dog and needs to live out the rest of her days in a loving, quiet and caring home. Svea is doing well not having any accidents in the house. However, when she is in a new situation, like the groomers, PetSmart, etc., she has accidents. In previous posts, I mentioned that she is on a life long heart medicine, however it is being reevaluated and she may not need to be on the medication any longer. Svea is timid and a bit standoffish when it comes to new people and her diet is special in that she does not eat hard food, soft food is necessary. She is incredibly loving and seeing her precious smile make it all worth it.
6/18/16: Precious Svea is still doing well. She is still looking for her forever home. Preferably a quiet home, she enjoys canine company but I don't think it's a necessity and I think she would do just fine with cats. Svea is very sweet. She likes her naps but she likes to run around the yard too. She is terribly cute and so soft and fuzzy. She always comes when I call her (and that includes my many nicknames for her). Svea is shy around new people and new places. She has her "safe" places and favorite places, hanging in her kennel or resting on my bed. She isn't a lap dog but she does sit by you. Svea is good in the car and stays in the passenger seat. Svea really is a wonderful, sweet dog and she truly deserves to have her own forever home.
5/16/16: Svea is my little sweetheart. She is so loving. It's amazing we've had her so long with how adorable she is. Svea just went to her groomer at Hot Dog Pet Salon and she looks so cute! She is doing well and explores around the yard. The sun seems to bother her eyes a bit so she's not out too long. She's so easygoing. Sometimes our dogs will walk right up to Svea and take her treat right out of her paws and she doesn't do a thing; she doesn't even bark. She truly deserves her forever home that will give her lots of love.

4/10/16: Svea is still doing really well. She really is such a sweet, gentle little thing. She is 12 but she doesn't seem that age when she gets her bouts of energy when she gets up in the morning or runs around outside. It is so cute seeing her run around and make her little snorting noises when she gets excited. We had quite a bit of company over for the Easter holiday. Svea did so well with all the new faces. She was a bit shy but came up to everyone and let people pet her. I plan to take her to the next Adoption Days at Pet Smart. She has made such great strides in her time here. I'm so proud of her. Svea is such a sweetheart and really deserves a loving home to call her own.

3/20/16: Svea has been in our home now for four months. Thinking back on her arrival, it's truly amazing how much she has progressed. She walked ever so slowly and carefully, as if she hadn't had walked much. Now she runs around the yard and when I call her she comes running. She has a very distinctive sound when running. In a house full of dogs, I can always tell it's her coming around the corner. Sounds sort of like a galloping horse. It's very cute. Svea was initially very finicky about her food and we've been able to slowly change her food to a much better option. She's also started to like chewing rawhide chews. Originally, she was not interested in treats at all. Svea spent her first month with us in diapers while we battled a urinary infection. She's been out of the diapers for sometime now and is doing very well, not having accidents in the house. However, she does have the occasional accident and it tends to be when she is very excited. Svea was so shy, it took a long time for her to seem happy, comfortable and safe. It seems like she feels all that and more now. It's been very rewarding to have her in our home to see how far she has come in these last 4 months and all the hurdles she has cleared. However, one hurdle she hasn't mastered yet is how to use the stairs and needs to be carried up and down them. She's only about 13 pounds so it's fine. Svea is still quite shy around new people. I think she would be just fine around cats and dogs. I think a quiet home is best suited for her. Svea is terribly sweet and absolutely adorable and deserves a patient, loving, safe place to call home.
2/28/16: Svea is doing well. She likes to explore in the yard now that it's been nicer out and the snow is melting. Svea thoroughly enjoys her canine company. We were dog sitting and had another dog staying with us for awhile and she did so well with him. Her personality is really coming out more and more as time goes by. She is really playful in the morning. She likes to run a bit when she's outside. We recently discovered that Svea has heart disease, so she will have to be on a medication for the rest of her life. We have had company over and she was pretty shy. She needs slow introductions to new people. Svea is such a little sweetheart and deserves a forever home with lots of love and patience.
2/8/16: In the last 3 months we've had Svea, she's made herself right at home. Her personality comes out more and more, which teeters between silly and bossy. Sometimes when she's not getting attention, she will bark her faint, little muffled bark. When she's feeling silly, she runs around outside chasing around our other dogs. She gets pretty excited for breakfast too! We've made good use of the nice weather lately, and she's been enjoying herself outside. She doesn't wander off too far, stays close and runs around our enclosed backyard. Svea is still not good with the stairs, though she has made it up the stairs on a couple occasions. She's getting better with males, still a little apprehensive but it's getting better. We finally found a diet that she likes and agrees with her stomach. Although, we've discovered that any kind of treat upsets her stomach so unfortunately, no treats for this little lady. A friend brought their giant Husky over and Svea just loved the dog and followed him all around. Most of the time she seems most content when she's hanging on the couch with us, she doesn't make a peep. She's just a sweet girl, very easy to love. Just a darling!

1/11/16: Svea has been in our home now for 2 months and we have thoroughly enjoyed having her. She is a gentle, sweet little thing. On the few occasions that she barks, it's a quiet, muffled bark. Svea is kenneled while we are at work. We are still working on potty training. Svea had many teeth extracted when she came into the rescue, so she eats wet dog food and is quite picky when it comes to her food. She gets along wonderfully with our other 2 male dogs. She really seems to like them and loves napping in dog beds with them. Svea is still apprehensive around men; she does fine with women but is shy around men. Due to her previous home in a puppy mill, she has no experience with stairs and needs to be carried up and down them. Svea has a really sweet personality and when she's happy, she looks like she's actually smiling. She really will make a great companion to someone in a quiet, gentle and patient home.
