Foster Home Feedback
10/5/16: Tanner has been with me for about three months now. He is very shy at first, but warms up very quickly. We bonded within the first couple days at my house, and he is now my shadow. The easiest way to his heart is with treats and lots of pets. Tanner is very loving, loyal, snuggly, and a giant goofball. He has a master's degree in snuggling. For the most part, he is very low-key, but he loves walks and loves to run laps around my back yard.
Tanner is crated during the day at my house, as he does have some separation anxiety. I do have to bribe him with treats. I think once he is comfortable in your home, he could be left out in the house. We had some issues with anxiety accidents, but he never chewed or destroyed anything. He sleeps in bed with me and the other dogs, and we have not had any issues. He gets along great with other dogs, and loves to engage in friendly play. I have an alpha dog, and he has never had any issues with that.
Tanner listens very well, and is very eager to learn. We have gone to a couple obedience classes at Down Dog Studio, and he made remarkable progress within the hour lesson. I think he would do great in a weekly class. Tanner has had zero issues with children. At adoption events, toddlers have walked up to him and hugged his face, and he has reciprocated with gentle kisses.
Tanner needs to go to a home with another dog. He gets anxiety being alone at home during the day. He also needs another dog to show him how to be a dog.
7/13/16: Tanner is continuing to do great in our home and he constantly amazes us. He will now walk into his kennel willingly every day without any trouble when he’s told or when he gets tired. He has realized it’s his safe place and not a punishment. He loves getting his treat as well!
Tanner is still a bit shy around new people, but warms up quickly. He used to hide behind us when meeting new people, but he’s getting more comfortable and has learned that people aren’t so scary.
He’s been around kids and does great with them. If he is feeling overwhelmed, he will just walk away, which is his way of telling you he needs a break.
Tanner absolutely loves his people and his favorite thing is being pet or just sitting by us. The great part is that he doesn’t get jealous with having another dog in the house and doesn’t have any resource guarding issues. Tanner and our dog get along great and they’ve become best buds!
It’s been amazing watching him grow and get more comfortable over the last couple of months. He went from a very timid dog to a happy and healthy boy. We couldn’t be more proud of how far he has come.
6/22/16: Tanner has settled in quite well to our home. He’s still shy when he meets new people, but will warm up quickly. He’s starting to take more interest in his toys so it’s great to see how relaxed he has become.
Tanner is getting more and more comfortable with his kennel. Overall he doesn’t like going in but he has willing walked in for the last couple of days and LOVES getting a treat in the process. He’s showing great progress.
He does very well with other dogs and enjoys spending time outside with our little dog. They love to follow and chase each other around the yard. Tanner has started barking at other dogs walking by, but many times it’s very playful and he doesn’t show signs of aggression.
Tanner loves to be by our side and be pet as much as possible. He’s a very happy dog with lots of love to give.
5/27/16: Tanner is a very sweet dog with an old soul. We’ve had him for just over a week now and he’s starting to get more comfortable with our routine and the new environment. He’s not very playful but loves to be outside in the backyard or just lay around the house. He’s shy and timid so we are trying to get him slowly exposed to new people and new surroundings so he comes out of his shell. We haven’t exposed him to cats or kids but he’s very good with our little dog so I'm sure he’ll be just fine!
Tanner is house trained and we’re working on getting him kennel trained. He doesn’t like to go in the kennel so he while whine and sometimes bark for a few minutes but then settles down. Besides when he’s in the kennel, we’ve never heard him bark. Neighbor dogs or dogs walking by will bark at him but he remains silent and just observes. He’s very well behaved. Tanner doesn’t seem to have much experience with walking on a leash, so he tends to pull and wants to do his own thing, so he needs more practice.
Tanner has a lot of love to give and will make a wonderful companion.
