Tootsie is an adorable little dog who is just the right size, not too big, not too little. She is a purebred rat terrier who is solid black with a splash of white on her chest and a touch of white on each foot!
Tootsie came to OOTW after she and four other female rat terriers were dumped on Wye Mountain (west of Little Rock). These dogs were so skittish, they had to be trapped to be saved. Everyone now has their very own home except Tootsie!
Tootsie has been very shy, but once the last of her pack was adopted, she has blossomed and become much more social! You can expect it to take a few days once you have her in your home for her to adjust to her new environment, but once she does, she's going to be just fine.
Tootsie is crate trained and leash trained. She rides well in the car, simply sitting or lying in the backseat for the trip ... you don't even know she's there.
Tootsie is very gentle when taking treats from your hand and enjoys being petted, although she's not a dog that has to be in a lap or be touched all the time ... so she's not needy. :)
Children would be fine with Tootsie after proper introductions and kids who respect dogs. Tootsie enjoys toys, sleeping in your bed (although she is good in her crate), and TV time. She also enjoys a good romp in the yard and getting in a nap in the sunshine on nice days.
This little dog has come a LONG WAY and we are so proud of her ... we just must find her a home as wonderful as she is!
