8/5/14: Just had an expert come over and she saw Trip. She is sure he is Clumber and Brittany mix. He showed off his 'water skills' for her. He loves his big livestock trough full of water. Even stuck his head under.
He will be re-checked by the vet next week. If he is healthy enough in other areas, he will start heartworm treatment. It would be wonderful if he could be in a forever home before the treatments start. He really needs a calm environment for several months. It is hard to get that quiet space in a rescue with so many other dogs vying for attention. The treatments would still be paid for by Ozark Dogs.
6/6/14: Trip is a medical mess. He came from an animal control in southern Arkansas. He came with cherry eyes . He has had surgery to correct them and will be healing up just fine. He does not seem to have a vision problem.
He is heartworm positive and is also positive for anaplasmosis. Once the anaplasmosis is cured and he has full recovery from the eye surgery, he will be treated for the heart worms.
This poor fella deserves a break! Obviously he has not had much love or attention, at least not to his health.
Ozark Dogs will cover all expenses for the treatments. He really needs an adopter as love can make all the difference in the world for the healing process.
Ozark Dogs Rescue only adopts to companion homes where the dog will have inside privileges. A 4' fence is required for Trip but there are exceptions. Adoption donation for Trip is $150, however, our primary goal is to get the very best home for each dog. Yes, we do adopt out of state but it is the responsibility of the adopter to get the dog. We will not let them travel on commercial airline or large commercial (65 dog) transports. PNP or smaller transports are fine. .
