Tyson is a 2 year old, 47lb, American Pit Bull Terrier Mix. Tyson is in need of a foster or adopter to call his very own. This handsome man is currently in boarding and just wants to be a part of a family again.
Such a tough name for such a sweet boy. I can’t be sure of what inspired that moniker but our Tyson is definitely all lover, no fighter. A miniature tiger in that gorgeous, exotic coat, tiny Tyson is one of the most striking pups I’ve ever seen. From those pointy ears that wiggle when you speak, down to that never-ending tail by which you’re so tempted to “catch” him, Tyson is truly a work of art. Surrendered to our care through no fault of his own, Tyson is described by his former owner as very playful, occasionally shy, and sweet. He previously lived with a 4 year-old child (one wonders if they were able to resist that tail) and was said to be very respectful of them. My time with Tyson starts off beautifully. He greets me with that adorably serious face and accompanying tail wag, and we’re off to find our adventure. As we spin around the block, Tyson is quick-footed but calm, keeping those sharp, brown eyes wide and alert. Free in a pen, he gives Christopher Columbus a run for his money. Every nook, every cranny must be explored, and to the hilt! As birds boldly dart in and out of our pen, our little tiger gives chase, perhaps living out fantasies of a romp through the jungle. He returns to my side often for pets and for treats, his still-serious face betrayed by that forever-wagging tail. “Eeny meeny miney mo, catch a tiger by the toe…” Or by the tail? In reality, neither. Guaranteed it will go something like this: He’ll catch your eye. You’ll catch your breath. He’ll steal your heart.

Tyson is one of my favorite types of pup. No, not just the bunny ears, perfect face, stunning coat. Tyson is incredibly smart which therefore makes him discerning. He is friendly to everyone he meets of course. 100%. But on our first meeting, for example, I got plenty of tail wags, but no snuggles. On our second meeting, I received sporadic snuggles (which only made me want them even more), and by the third time - well Tyson had decided that I was a friend. That I was someone he wanted to keep around for a while. And, as you've seen in my recent videos, his heart is now on his tiger sleeve.
Maybe I love Tyson so much because I see myself in him. Is it so wrong to withhold parts of yourself for those who've truly earned it? Doesn't that make it all the more special for those recipients, and make them all the more certain that that love is real?
Tyson's love is real. Now when I put him back into his kennel at the end of the night he rubs that beautiful coat along the bars like a cat as I close the door, soliciting one last scratch. Yep, I've made it into the Tyson "trust tree." And the view is wonderful from here.
Tyson is petite, gorgeous, playful, bright, and affectionate. He has previously lived with very young children and is also said to "love cats." For the moment he needs to be the only dog in the home (not all of them are in his tree yet).
To help Tyson get out of boarding please apply to foster or adopt.
