Van Dyke is a handsome boy with the coloring of a Starbucks Frappucino, and when he splashes through the mud (which he does as often as possible!) he looks like the barista added some chocolate chips to make him even more appealing. Van Dyke can usually be found right in the middle of any fun that's going on, whether that's chasing a ball or splashing in the little blue wading pool. He's happy to get his share of attention from his humans, but he's not terribly demanding. Between his good looks and his easy-going personality, you're sure to become just as addicted to Van Dyke as to your morning cuppa java.

Van Dyke and his siblings were born on 4/30/2014 at Windsong Ranch, the home of Bluebonnet Animal Rescue. Mom Ginger was surrendered to us by a goat rancher who let her get pregnant then didn't want to deal with the results. He threatened to shoot her, figuring that one bullet would take care of Ginger AND all her puppies. Thankfully, the rancher's daughter convinced him to surrender the VERY pregnant dog to rescue. We picked her up on Saturday, and on Wednesday, Ginger delivered a BIG litter of puppies.

The great thing about this story is that these puppies have been loved from the moment they were born, and have been given good food and veterinary care to give them the best possible start a rescue pup could ever hope to have. Van Dyke and siblings have had a full series of puppy shots, along with monthly wormer and heartworm prevention. They have all been spayed/neutered and microchipped, so Van Dyke and his siblings are ready to join your family today!

At 7.5 months old, Van Dyke weighed 70 LBs, so we expect he will weigh in the neighborhood of 90 LBs or so when fully grown. We were told that his mother is half Great Pyrenees, and we're not sure about his dad -- we're guessing Anatolian Shepherd, but that's just speculation on our part. Van Dyke has single dew-claws on both rear feet. (Double dew-claws on rear feet are a breed trait of Great Pyrenees, and Anatolians often have single rear dew-claws as well.)
