Verona wins the award for one of the most dramatic transformations since arriving at the shelter.
In late June Verona was left at intake by her owner, asking that she be euthanized for an abcess on her face. Verona was bedraggled and weak. She spent her first few weeks in the medical unit receiving healing ministrations. Verona was frightened, very thin, and tended to hide.
Soon Verona was cleared by the vet for adoption and caring staff and volunteers stepped in. Verona was fed some nutritious food and received loving attention from our cat socialization crew. Slowly but surely Verona learned that the world could be a kind place.
Since coming to the shelter Verona has gained a badly needed four pounds. Her fur went from the consistency nearer to straw to the luxurious, fluffy coat she has today. Verona will now often greet visitors to her K-ZAP habitat.
Transformations such as these warm the hearts of hard working Bradshaw Shelter staff and volunteers. Even more heartwarming will be when we see Verona join her loving, forever home. Since Verona has been at the shelter for longer than thirty days her adoption fee is $20.
