Viking

Pit Bull Terrier

Large  |  Male

If the Olympics had a tennis ball catching competition, Viking would be the gold medal winner. This energetic boy loves those tennis balls and catches them no matter how high they're thrown. He's a high jumper! Viking is a bouncy boy with a love for life (and tennis balls). He can be wary of strangers, but once acquainted he enjoys being loved on by his human friends, and isn't overly demanding of attention. Being an independent sort, he'll entertain himself, but come back to check in with his person. Viking was surrendered by an owner who had to move away. The owner reported that Viking could be antagonistic with male dogs, but is easily corrected, and he chases and barks at cats. So he may do best as the only pet in a home, or a meet-and greet with a potential dog housemate would be advisable. He's also said to be good with older kids. Walking on his leash and house training are two things he needs to work on, and he seems very willing. He answers to the Sit command. A new owner with the patience to continue Viking's training and give positive reinforcement for his good behavior will be rewarded with a handsome, happy companion and champion tennis ball catcher. If that describes you, come meet this boy. All APA adoptions come with free behavior assistance through APA's behavior team. And remember, when you adopt a dog from APA, you are saving not one, but two lives - the life of the dog you're bringing into your home, and the next dog APA can save in the adopted dog's place.
