Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Vodka is a 7 month old Lab-Shepherd mix who weighs about 49.5lbs. She is expected to be in the 60lbs+ range when full grown and completely filled out. She and her two siblings came into our rescue when her senior owner was no longer able to care for them. Vodka is a sweet, loving, kind girl. She is shy initially with strangers. It took her about a day to become a velcro dog who follows her foster mom everywhere and who climbs up the doggy stairs and sleeps in her foster mom's bed.
V is not much of a barker except when she gets excited and then she has a little howl. When her foster mom leaves for even five minutes and returns V gets super excited as if she's been gone for hours. She loves her foster mom something fierce! V can coexist and currently lives with other dogs. She doesn't want to play with them. She wants her people and is much more interested in her people than the dogs who are in her home. She has lived with big and small dogs. She currently lives with a Chihuahua who shares her lack of desire to be all buddy buddy. Instead they peacefully co-exist and share a mutual love for their foster mom.
She is crate trained and though she currently sleeps in the bed with her foster mom she did start out sleeping in the crate and she never made a peep. She currently eats in her crate and when she hears the bowls being filled she runs for her crate! She likes to go for walks and does pretty good. On occasion she will try to walk in between her foster mom's legs but that's usually when people are too loud or approach her too quickly. V loves to go for car rides. She jumps right into the car and loves to just look out the window.
Vodka is an option for kids who are over the age of 10 and are well behaved, accustomed to being with dogs and being with a shy dog is a bonus. She is best suited for a family that has had a dog in the past 5 years.
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
