Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, October 22nd from 1-4pm and Sunday, October 23rd from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Wiley Coyote is a 2 year old JRT mix who we rescued off the meat trucks of Korea. He weighs about 13 lbs. Wiley's foster mom says: "Wiley Coyote is the sweetest boy! His personality has already bloomed over these few days, and am sure he will continue to grow his confidence. He started out super shy and now he is bounding into the house, and snuggling into me for good cuddles and belly rubs. He has already bonded, and is a very trainable dog -- house training coming along great and he follows me so closely he's bumping into me as I walk around the house. I brought him to the dog park and he was confident and friendly with everyone (dogs and people) in the small dog area. He had a great time playing around, but also kept checking in with me periodically."
Wiley does very well on leash and is very responsive to his person. He checks in frequently and does not pull. He responds well to both verbal praise and treats! His foster mom reports: "While he can bounce around the house like a baby goat and is a happy boy and likes to play, he still has a calm energy, and calms down quickly, barks an appropriate amount of time to odd noises outside - not a nuisance barker at all." She also says: Wiley is a love bug and a great balance of playful fun and sweet cuddler and is a great size to take anywhere. Wiley has gone on long car rides with his foster mom and sits calmly in the passenger seat.
Wiley is still working on crate training. While he's not yet a huge fan of his crate, he will sleep in it for the night as long as it is placed next to his foster mom's bed.
Wiley is an option for those who have had a dog in the last 5 years. If there are children in the home, they need to be over the age of 8.
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
