Walker Hound, Male, Senior, 68 lbs
Dog Name: Willie Nelson Suspected Breed(s): Walker Hound Gender: Male Age: Senior Weight: 68 lbs. Personality: Calm, Affectionate, Eager to please, Funny, Adaptable, Friendly, Quiet, Easygoing, Gentle, Patient, Goofy, Protective, Smart, Adventurous, Loyal, Quick Learner Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs. Willie Nelson lived with a 6 year old Husky mix in his previous foster home. They got along well. They sniffed each other, rubbed their faces together, and seemed to enjoy walking together. Both dogs were pretty mellow when inside. While out on walks, Willie Nelson wants to sniff other dogs. Observations with Cats: Willie Nelson has not been tested with cats. He seems curious about the neighbor's cat, but doesn't get riled up. Observations with Kids: Willie Nelson has a pretty mellow disposition with kids. He has met some in his neighborhood and seems curious, but can also be a bit fearful if a child it too energetic. However he needs a household with consistent routines, so a home with children of any age would not be a good match for him. House Training Progress: No accidents Crate Training Progress: Willie Nelson prefers to be out of the crate and does not like small enclosures. He spends the day at City Dogs Daycare while his foster parent is at work. Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Bladen Co, NC Additional Information: Willie Nelson is a mellow senior gentlemen who is a character. He is very low maintenance, with cute hound antics and facial expressions. He is a great combination of calm, funny, adorable, and loyal! He loves chewing on antlers and dental chews and will sometimes hide them for later. Willie Nelson is still learning the confidence to be alone and he likes to know what his family is up to, but will lounge around and busy himself if it isn’t time to play. He just loves to look out the window and watch the world go by. Outside, Willie Nelson loves an adventure and all the smells that go with it. If he went to a home with a backyard or deck, he would love to lounge in the sun! If there is a creek around Willie Nelson will be in it! Apply today to meet him! City Dogs Rescue is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).
Prior to arrival, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered (unless specified) and given shots for Rabies, Distemper DHPP, and Bordatella. They are tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasma, and Ehrlichia. They are dewormed at least twice and given a health check by the vet. Most dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken or crate trained. Our adoption fee is $395 (including puppies) unless noted -- senior dogs are available for an adoption fee of $200.
We also update our Facebook page daily with new dogs.
