Hello. I'm Woofers. I was found in Central Phoenix and the neighbors, who fed me, called me Hector. I am almost 3 years old now and am a mix of maybe a Dachshund and a Chihuahua with short brown hair. I was born on the streets and had a rough life until I was saved at 5 months old. I was sooo happy to be rescued that I leaped right out of the trap that I got food in, into Little Rascals Rescue's owners arms. She jumped back not expecting it, but quickly realized I only wanted to give kisses. I absolutely love attention and will demand it. I got my name Woofers because I love to chat. I don't bark much, just like to talk with you. I was adopted out quickly, but my last owner had to go into a home and I couldn't go with her. I got adopted again into an awesome family who had a bunch of kids to play with and spoil me. They also had a huge rottie! I like playing with the little dogs, but due to my horrific history of surviving on the streets I want to defend myself with big dogs. The Rottweiler was very understanding of me and let me rule. If she had been younger I would have been in trouble, but she was too lazy and sweet to tell me no. I also will chase cats and birds. After being with my perfect family for awhile I got very sick. The rescue took me back and has me on my feet again. I have been diagnosed with a disease called Addisons. Basically what that means is that my body does not produce any steroids of its own. It was something that I was born with that shows itself when the patient is about 2 years old. Which is exactly how old they thought I was at that time. All I need is my steroids regulated and I am perfectly fine and you would never know I was even sick. My family wanted to keep me, but could not inject me with my mediation. The injection goes into my muscle and has to be given every 25 days, and I also take a pill once a day. The medication isn't expensive, just needs to be regulated so I don't die. I have been doing great for almost a year and am ready to go home again. I understand that my loving family wanted to keep me, but they were scared. I'm not a big fan of it either, however, I love life! I enjoy playing with my family and toys. I am a huge cuddle bug and live to snuggle. I am potty trained and great at walking on a leash and love car rides. I am the best companion, I just need someone who can help me take my meds so I can continue to enjoy this world.
