There is no denying that Greyhounds love to run, and they are quite good at it. But despite their insane speed, sometimes Greyhounds would rather plop themselves on your lap than sprint around the yard. These sweet, even-tempered canines may be large, but they are lithe and delicate dogs, weighing in at an average of 65 pounds. Because of this, a Greyhound on the lap may be clunky, but they are definitely not too heavy. And with a flexible spine, these pups can contort themselves anywhere — the couch, bed, floor, porch. After a straining career on the race track, a lot of retired running Greyhounds are adopted, and you know what they want to do in retirement? Hint: It involves a lot of napping.

Here are eight Greyhounds who’d rather hit the hay than the pavement.

1. This one who opts for pajamas rather than racing stripes.

2. This one who is dog-tired and ready for a nap.

3. This one who enjoys sleeping on her back.

4. This one who is so exhausted she uses her doggy bed as a pillow.

5. This one who sprung for a Sealy Posturepedic. (And is not regretting the decision.)

6. This one who is literally sinking into a toasty, comfy, blissful sleep. What’s running?

7. This one who looks oh-so-cute resting her head between her paws.

8. This one who proves Greyhounds are contortionists — and sleeping is the best time to make a pretzel!
