The feeling of being rescued ranks highly. No one knows that better than people who have been rescued themselves.
That’s why it seems so fitting that a recently adopted young girl picked out a special rescue kitten to call her own, according to an NBC 7 San Diego story. Nine-year-old Aricelli Meehan selected a kitten during last weekend’s “Clear The Shelter” nationwide event.
“I just looked into her eyes and she looked into mine. And then I saw her personality and how good she was, and I knew she was the one,” Aricelli told the news outlet.
Aricelli gave the 10-week-old kitten with the gorgeous green eyes the name Emerald.
NBC 7 San Diego asked Aricelli how she picked Emerald. She was ready with answers.
“Her personality is sweet, kind, funny, playful and, of course, adorable,” Aricelli said.
It’s similar to what Aricelli’s adoptive mother said about the young girl herself. Aricelli was placed in child protective services at a young age. Eventually she entered the foster care system at the age of 6.
“They said I think you just need to meet her which took maybe three minutes, right, for us to fall in love with each other and know that we were best matches,” said Missy Meehan, Aricelli’s new mom.
Each day we have the chance to change a life. For Missy and Aricelli, they’ve experienced that and started a beautiful life for two special someones.
