AFA Elects New BoardThe American Federation of Aviculture (AFA)’s annual convention and fund-raiser this past August in Dallas brought together avian experts from as far as Australia and Spain to Brazil and California. A three-day lecture series focused heavily on breeding, conservation and parrot behavior.

Hourly raffles, a Friday night cocktail hour hosted by Bird Endowment, a trip to the Dallas zoo and a vendor hall as well as both a silent and live auction provided entertainment for attendees.

Most board members from last year were re-elected, but two changes were announced at the Saturday night banquet. Genny Wall became the Southern California regional director, a previously unfilled position, and Nancy Speed, formerly the Southeast regional director, moved into the secretary position.
