Bravo Pet Foods has voluntarily recalled select chicken blends for cats.

Bravo Pet Foods, based out of Manchester, CT, is voluntarily recalling some of their Bravo Chicken pet foods for cats and dogs because the New York State Department of Agriculture conducted a routine sampling and detected the presence of salmonella.

The product (105 cases) was sold across the U.S. to Internet retailers, distributors and directly to consumers. Prior to distribution, the products were tested by an independent third party laboratory that did not detect any evidence of salmonella. To date, no illnesses in humans or pets have been reported.

Salmonella Symptoms

Healthy individuals who are exposed to salmonella may experience short-term symptoms. These include diarrhea, abdominal cramping, high fever, stiffness, nausea and severe headache. Individuals with weakened immune systems, frail or elderly people and young children may experience serious or fatal illness or infection. Consumers who have come in contact with this product and are experiencing any of the above symptoms should contact their doctor.
