After a five-day, 17-mile excursion, Crockett the gray tabby is finally back at his Essex, U.K. home, in the arms of Pauline and Bill Lowe, his loving owners. The couch-surfing kitty got caught in the Lowes’ three-piece couch, which they donated to a local charity.
Crockett lay in the couch for four days and nights until, thankfully, the couch’s new owners heard his meows and discovered the stowaway. The new owners then called the charity to inform them they found a cat, alive and well, in their new piece of furniture. The Lowes’ believe 10-year-old Crockett could have climbed into the couch after they separated the pieces to deliver it to the charity.

Mrs. Lowe says, “We noticed Crockett was missing straight away but could not think where he might have gone. He doesn’t go anywhere so I was really worried … The whole family are delighted to have Crockett back.” Apparently, the Lowe’s other cat, Tubbs, missed Crockett as well.

The manager of St. Luke’s, the charity the couch was given to, told Daily Mail, “I couldn’t believe what I was told when a customer phoned to say that they had bought a sofa from our shop and that they were delighted with the purchase except for the fact it had a cat inside … On further investigation of the sofa they saw two claws poking out of the material which moved away when touched … In order to release the cat, they had to rip the material under the sofa as Crockett had lodged himself well into the back … After giving the cat some TLC, a good drink and food, they contacted us.
