It’s hard not to pick up a puppy and give it a hug, even if you’re a cat.

Two mother cats with kittens are nursing two 2-week-old puppies at a Georgia pet shelter, The Huffington Post reports. The little dogs were picked up earlier this month from the roadside spot where their mother was hit by a car and killed, sadly, and cared for by the City of LaGrange Animal Shelter.

Too young to be weaned, shelter workers brought the puppies to two nursing mother cats in their care. The cats quickly accommodated the young dogs.

“The puppies sleep with the kittens,” shelter supervisor Chris Bussy told The Huffington Post. “They’re one big happy family.”

The shelter had brought unweaned puppies to nursing dogs before but had never attempted to bring puppies to cats with kittens. The two mother cats made room for one puppy each.

When the kittens and puppies are old enough, they’ll be transported — along with the mother cats — via Puppy Pipeline Rescue to the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley, Minnesota, where they’ll be up for adoption, Bussy told the news outlet.

It goes to show that everyone loves puppies.
