On Jan. 23, Fresh Step with the Power of Febreze Cat Litter will present the fourth annual Catdance Film Festival, and this time around the felines will be hosted by none other than “New Girl” actress Hannah Simone, who just happens to have a truly soft spot for kitties!

“I love the funny and quirky moments I have with my cats, Jake and Blake, so I’m honored to be celebrating these moments at the Catdance Film Festival,” Simone said in a press release. “It’s going to be a spectacular event for the star of the show – shelter cats. They’ll walk the red carpet, take over the silver screen, and tug at guests’ heartstrings through a very cool virtual reality experience.”

The Park City celebration has grown notorious for rolling out the red carpet in honor of shelter cats with starring roles in independent films; but this year will feature something a little different. In addition to the much-loved cat-centric films followed by the Golden Litter Scoop and $25,000 grand prize awards, the festival will debut a seriously stellar virtual reality cat adoption experience.

Attendants will slip on a pair of cat ears coupled with virtual reality goggles to get a cat’s eye view of what it’s like to be adopted – starting from how they feel when they’re overlooked by potential adopters (tear!) to the joy that courses through them when they finally find their forever family!

“Virtual reality is becoming a major force in the evolution of storytelling, so we see it as an exciting opportunity to create a more empathetic view of the shelter cat experience,” said Nick Meyer, Director of Marketing, Pet Products. “If the world could see how much adoption means from a cat’s point of view, shelters would be empty. We hope this will rally animal lovers to join our Million Meow Mission to improve the lives of shelter cats and find them more forever homes.”

While thousands of films starring shelter cats were submitted, Simone will present the most-adored on the big screen before announcing the grand prize winner of the 2016 Golden Litter Scoop and $25,000 award.

In addition to the creative cat cinema strutting itself on the catwalk, Fresh Step will be announcing their latest purrfect partnership with Febreze for the odor eliminating product New Fresh Step with the Power of Febreze.

Catdance, a part of Fresh Step with Power of Febreze’s Million Meow Mission, a campaign focused on finding homes for shelter cats, and donating one million litter scoops to nationwide shelters, will take place on Jan. 23 at Cisero’s in Park City during that other film festival (psst…Sundance).
