Q: Will giving a chinchilla vitamins harm it in any way?
A: If a chinchilla is given appropriate food, there should be enough vitamins in its diet to satisfy the requirements of most pet chinchillas. Even though vitamins can be an excellent dietary supplement, there is the concept of too much of a good thing. The other question is, how do we know the vitamins are properly proportioned for chinchillas? No agency oversees the vitamins to guarantee their quality or the necessity of these supplements in chinchillas. Even so, most vitamin supplements for small mammals will probably not harm a chinchilla given at the dose recommended on the package.
