|Marty Hull was born in California and practiced dentistry until 1991. Since then, he’s been a full-time inventor and has received nine U.S. patents for his inventions. He started breeding chinchillas in late 1980s, and developed the following products for chinchillas: the Flying Saucer Exercise Wheel and Pro-C probiotic chinchilla supplement. Hull has extensively researched chinchilla genetics, malocclusion and other health issues. He and his staff breed high-quality show and pet-grade chinchillas. They frequently mentor other breeders and continue to do rescue and rehabilitation work with chinchillas.|

|L. Vanessa Gruden is executive director of the Ferret Association of Connecticut. She has owned ferrets since about 1985 and operated the FACT shelter since 1991, personally caring for more than 1,600 ferrets during that time.
“I don’t know everything,” Gruden cheerfully admits. “Some behavior is simply ‘a ferret thing’ and remains a mystery. But I’m happy to share what knowledge I have and would love to hear from readers if they have an answer to any question that stymies me!”
