This was a homerun day for this pup!

Minor league baseball team the El Paso Chihuahuas recently hosted the Wienerschnitzel Wiener National of El Paso dog race, and perhaps unsurprisingly, not everything went exactly to plan.

In a video uploaded to YouTube last week by the team, several Dachshunds face off in a short sprint across the baseball field for a chance to be crowed the fastest weenie dog in El Paso, Texas.

When the race begins, it’s predictably a hot mess of little legs and wagging tails going in every direction. But the real fun begins when the race ends.

One weenie dog decides to keep the race going as it gallops wildly around the entire infield (and outfield) as handlers and players try to wrangle the rebellious pup.

Several laps and stolen bases later, the runaway Dachshund is caught, and the game resumes. Play ball!
