Select lots of the Bravo Chicken pet foods have been recalled due to the possibility of salmonella contamination. Manchester, CT-based Bravo Pet Foods initiated the voluntarily recall after the New York State Department of Agriculture conducted routine testing what revealed the presence of salmonella.

An independent third-party laboratory tested the product prior to distribution; all products tested negative for salmonella.

The following product – 105 cases of which were sold throughout the U.S. to retailers, consumers and distributors – is being recalled:

Individuals who have been exposed to the recalled products and experience symptoms associated with salmonella – such as abdominal cramping, diarrhea, high fever, nausea, severe headache and stiffness – should contact their doctor. While those symptoms are often short-term, more serious illness and fatal infection can occur in young children, people with weakened immune systems and elderly or frail individuals.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products should stop feeding it to their pets and dispose of the product securely and safely. To receive a full refund or store credit, fill out the Bravo Recall Claim Form and take it to the place of a purchase.
