Jane and Alan Slater of the Isle of Wight, UK, thought they were lottery winners. They were, in fact, but under the impression that they had won £149,089, which is around $230,000. Their dog, Ruby, somehow knew this was not the extent of their winnings, and managed to find a second winning lottery ticket in the backseat of their car, effectively DOUBLING their winnings to $460,000!
The discovery was made as the couple was heading home from taking Ruby on a walk for her second birthday when the dog got back in the car and disturbed a piece of paper, which fell to their feet. That piece of paper was a second lottery ticket that had been lost in the backseat of the car. Jane said: “I really can’t explain the way the piece of paper floated. It was like you see in slow-motion in films, as though someone wanted me to notice it.”
The numbers were the same numbers the couple had used in the lottery for the past 20 years with no such luck. Finally, Ruby helped them bring it home.
