A dog stranded in a flood was quick to give thanks to his rescuer.

Traditionally, Thanksgiving is the day to reflect on all that you are grateful for, but one dog and his owner found themeless giving thanks on Black Friday, too, after being rescued from deep floodwaters in Texas.

McKinney firefighters responded to an early morning 911 call on Friday from a man who was stuck under a bridge with his dog during a dangerous flood caused by heavy rain, NBC 5 News – Dallas/Fort Worth reports. When the first responders arrived, they reportedly were only able to see the dog, as the dog was standing on his owner’s shoulders and the man was under the water.

What followed was an incredible rescue of the man, who has not been named, and his dog. A firefighter was lowered down to their location by ropes and then lifted the pair out of the water.

When the man and his dog were safely back on the ground, the dog said thank you the only way a dog can — by covering his hero’s face with sloppy wet kisses.

Needless to say, these two have a lot more to be thankful for this year.
