Today, as everyone goes back to work and school after the three-day Labor Day weekend, we’re all likely to hear the same question (and probably more than once): “How was your weekend?” That’s usually followed with, “What did you do?” Our answers vary. Some of us may say we spent the long weekend relaxing at home, while others share stories about barbecues at friends’ houses. For actor and former wrestler Dwayne Johnson – also known as The Rock – the answers to those questions include saving his new puppy’s life and learning valuable lessons about dogs.
Johnson posted a photo on his Facebook page, along with a Labor Day weekend story that anyone with a dog may relate to, or at least take note of and learn from. He talks about the two French Bulldog puppies who recently became part of his family, Brutus and Hobbs, and how a little scare in the pool resulted in Johnson getting soaked from head to toe and ruining his cell phone. But it also resulted in him saving Brutus’s life.
After seeing Brutus nearly drown, Johnson jumped in the pool without a second thought to save the little dog. The experience, as he noted, taught Johnson three things: not all puppies instinctually know how to dog paddle, some will sink if they’re in shock and your cell phone will get ruined if you don’t take it out of your pocket before jumping in the pool. But there’s one other lesson he undoubtedly learned: be prepared when taking your dog around water. And if you own a Bulldog or any dog that doesn’t know how to swim, fence in your pool and put them in a life jacket around water.
We’re glad Brutus is OK.
