Is your cat a kitty of the galaxy? Does he or she have secret aspirations to go to outer space? If David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” is constantly playing in between viewings of “Star Wars,” chances are your cat really wants to be a galactic cat. Since you’re unlikely to send Kitty up in a space shuttle, and because he or she prefers the couch and a bowl of food to traveling, artist Jen Bartel offers up the next best thing: illustrations of psychedelic-looking felines in space.

Her series, called Galactic Cats, features cats made up of bright colors on a black background; you’d swear if you were to look up at the night sky a constellation would form in the shape of one of these cats. Bartel says on her website, “I grew up in Seoul, South Korea, where I spent the majority of my time consuming cartoons and Asian media of the 90’s and early 2000’s.  My work is heavily informed by my childhood interests and experiences.”

Check out the Galactic Cats and let us know what you think.
