Last night was the final night of the Westminster Kennel Club’s 140th Annual Dog Show, and it did not disappoint. More than 3,000 unbelievably impressive animals competed in this year’s event, but it was a 3-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer named California Journey (CJ, for short) who took home the Best in Show trophy.

This is the third time that a German Shorthaired Pointer has won the top prize at the prestigious show, and the second time a dog from CJ’s family has won; in 2005, CJ’s grandmother, Carlee, was also named Best in Show, according to The New York Times.

But before CJ collected his gigantic purple ribbon, the judges named the winners in the Sporting, Working and Terrier Groups as well. Those winners were:

1. Sporting
California Journey, a male German shorthaired pointer

2. Working
Run Play It Again Ham, a male Samoyed

3. Terrier
Good Time Charlie, a male Skye Terrier

Those three group winners joined the four winners from Monday night’s events for the tense seven dog Best in Show round. Although the Vegas odds were on Rumor, a German Shepherd, CJ finished on top.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” CJ’s handler, Valerie Nunes-Atkinson, said after the big win, according to the Times. “For us in the sport, this is the pinnacle. This is what we strive for, what we shed tears over. The best dogs come here. This is the show to win.”

CJ did win. So what’s next for him? On Wednesday, he was a special guest on “Good Morning America” and had appearances scheduled elsewhere in New York City. He was also going to get to have his favorite snack, chicken and carrots, and Nunes-Atkinson said that he might even be allowed to jump on the bed. That seems fair.
