In “21 Jump Street,” Johnny Depp played a cop who helped put criminals behind bars. Now he’s the one who could end up in jail.

The actor could face up to 10 years in prison for illegally bringing his dogs into Australia and failing to declare them, E! Online reports.

Depp, who is shooting another “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie in Australia, brought his two dogs — Pistol and Boo — into the country on his private jet last month.

On Monday, an Australian Senate committee was told that if the matter goes to court and the 51-year-old actor is found guilty, Depp could face up to 10 years in prison or a maximum fine of $265,000, according to E! Online.

Australian officials became aware of Depp’s dogs’ existence into the country after a photo of the Yorkshire Terriers at the groomer’s was posted on social media. The country’s agriculture minister, Barnaby Joyce, accused Depp of not following quarantine laws and threatened to have the Yorkies euthanized if they weren’t flown out of the country.

“If we start letting movie stars, even though they’ve been ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ twice, to come into our nation, then why don’t we just break the laws for everybody?” Joyce said in a televised statement. “It’s time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States.”

Depp reportedly obliged and sent the two pooches packing back to California.
