Bamboo sharks are one of a very few species of shark that are successfully kept by expert aquarium keepers who can maintain the more than 300-gallon aquarium that these sharks need to thrive. And they are often sold while the shark is still in its tough, leathery egg.

Rumble user JohnnyAveo uploaded a video showing a man who purchased a bamboo shark egg, and cut it open so the shark can swim out.

At first, it seems the man is looking for the best possible place to make the cut. The man then details, like a surgeon, to the others in the room exactly what he is doing before he makes the cut.

“I am going to push him toward the back,” the man says as he gently squeezes the small shark away from where he is going to cut.

A woman can then be heard, saying “Are you sure?” And another man says, “Make sure you block him out of the way.”

“I am going to cut with the scissors,” the man says as he agrees with the advice of his companions and then proceeds to make a fairly large cut to the leathery egg as the bamboo shark’s stripes can be seen through the egg.

As he makes the first cut, he then proceeds to place a tip of one of the scissor’s blade’s into the cut he just made and starts to cut some more. He makes two cuts with the scissors and creates a hole that is seemingly big enough for the shark to swim out of. But at first the shark doesn’t want to leave the confines of the egg. With a bit more prodding and gentle squeezing, the shark swims out of the egg with a splash.

“There he is. There he is. He is swimming!” the man says as the shark swims and then comes to a rest on the bottom of the container.
