Be honest. How many times have you sung to your hedgehog (or other pet)? Once? Twice? Every single day since you’ve had him? What if you got the chance to have a singer-songwriter serenade your hedgehog? Well, the owner of a hedgehog named DeShawn Mendes got Canadian musician Shawn Mendes to sing to the critter, thanks to the United Kingdom’s Capital FM radio station.

The “Stitches” singer seemed a little nervous at first around his critter namesake.

At the insistence of Roman Kemp, the radio deejay, Mendes began singing.

“Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep, DeShawn Mendes. You’re freaking me out,” he sang.

Luckily, Mendes relaxed and began slightly altered versions of “Hush, Little Baby” and “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.”
