An animal shelter in Akron, Ohio, is empty after every single dog and cat was adopted.

Last Saturday, Summit County Animal Control held its sixth annual adopt-a-thon and, for the first time, all of the dogs and cats in the shelter found a new home, ABC News reports. And, unbelievably, all 93 dogs and cats were adopted in less than two hours.

“Usually there’s at least six or seven that don’t find a home,” shelter director Christine Fatheree told ABC News.

But Saturday wasn’t the usual adopt-a-thon. Fatheree said potential pet owners started lining up outside the shelter at 6:30 a.m., more than three hours before it was scheduled to open its doors. On top of that, an older couple who could not have their own pets made a donation that covered all of the adoption fees for 50 animals.

Among the pets who were adopted last weekend were a pair of cats who had been at the shelter for five months and a “fat” 8-year-old Pit Bull who reportedly was just as cuddly as she was lazy.

Fatheree credited social media — and the shelter’s staff members and volunteers — for spreading awareness of the event and for ensuring that, when she locked the doors and turned out the lights on Saturday, not a single kennel door had to be locked, not one water dish needed to be refilled and not one animal was left waiting, wondering when he might find his forever home.
