Competition, open to all dog owners, will accept entries through January 3, 2006.

Dog Show USA, an online dog show opened to both purebreds and mixed breeds, logged its 10,000th entry yesterday.

The free competition, sponsored by Purina, continues through Jan. 3, 2006.

In addition to traditional categories such as terrier, non-sporting and working, the competition is holding specialty categories including best trick, owner look-alike, cutest dog, and best mixed breed.

A judging panel will whittle down the contestants. The panel includes Westminster Kennel Clubs David Frei, actor John OHurley and AKC Canine Health Foundation president Wayne Ferguson.

The public will determine the ultimate winner through on-line and cell phone voting. Winners are announced online on Jan. 31, 2006 and on-air on NBC on Feb. 4, 2006.

Prizes range from a years supply of Purina dog food to a trip to the 2006 National Dog Show in Philadelphia.

More information is available at the Dog Show USA website.
