The cats’ owner wanted to make sure the sitter knew exactly which cat was which. Mission accomplished.

If you’ve ever had to leave your pets with a sitter, chances are you’ve left the person looking after them a note detailing instructions. It may say something like, “Feed Rusty at 7 a.m. and again at 7 p.m.” or “Give Baby a mix of wet and dry food” or maybe even “Walk both the cat and the dog promptly after their dinner.”

Whatever the message, you likely make it short, sweet and uncomplicated. Or, you do what one Tumblr user’s friend did and make it hilarious.

In the post, it is revealed that user Amanda is “watching my friend’s cats while she’s away and she left me descriptions so I could tell who’s who.” Simple enough, right? Pet sitters wouldn’t want to call the orange cat Tiger if his actual name is Creamsicle. And cat owners want their sitters to know which is which. But this cat owner took it one step further and created spot-on descriptions of each of her kitties.

Kitty No. 1: “Samson: All gray. The most handsome cat you have ever seen. Looks like a cat that was drawn by a Disney animator.”

Samson in all his Disney glory.

Kitty No. 2: “Dobby: All black. No tail. Looks like a cat that was drawn by a person who has a vague idea of what cats look like but in reality has never seen one.”

Dobby may not be pleased with that description.

Kitty No. 3: “Dixie: Calico. Looks like she would speak with a squeaky voice. Very short. Will use her nails to love you.”

She does look like she’d have a squeaky voice!

Kitty No. 4: “Wilson: Gray and White. Obese. Still adorable. Looks like Tony Soprano. Probably the mob boss.”

Oh, he’s totally the mob boss.

It’s safe to say the owner of these cats totally nailed these descriptions.

  • Just completed a pet sitting job with 10 cats — four in the house, two in the basement apartment and four in the garages. I really could have used the above strategy because five of the cats were grey and brown tabbies and looked very much alike.

  • Very clever and so funny. I am a pet sitter and I can appreciate this. I’d rather have someone thorough then not. My peeve is folks that don’t leave enough supplies for the sitter in the way of food & litter for the amount of time they’ll be gone
