The Villalobos Rescue Center is the largest rehabilitation and placement facility for American Pit Bull Terriers in the world. “Like many nonprofits today, Villalobos has been under financial duress for some time due to the economic climate, so we knew we had to do something to help,” says Brandon Bond, co-founder of The Great Pit Ball.
For this reason, he and Ralph Perazzo founded The Great Pit Ball. The ball will take place on March 14, 2009, at The Palms and Mandalay Bay Hotels & Casinos in Las Vegas, Nev. This all-day event includes a premiere of the film “Vicktory to the Underdog,” a dinner catered by some of Las Vegas’ finest chefs, an art auction, a concert, a VIP after-party and more. All proceeds will go to the Villalobos Rescue Center.
In addition to raising money for the Villalobos Rescue Center, Bond and Perazzo hope to draw attention to the positive attributes of the American Pit Bull Terrier breed. “People have many misconceptions about pit bulls, when in reality, they are the most loyal, loving and amazing animals,” Perazzo says. “As an avid dog lover, I am so excited that we have been able to put this event together to help an amazing charity that is doing great work.”
The Great Pit Ball will be filmed and featured in the season finale of Animal Planet’s upcoming reality television show, “Outlaw Dogz.” The series follows the Villalobos Rescue Center and its efforts to rescue and rehabilitate American Pit Bull Terriers.
