Some lots of Beneful and ProPlan dog food by Purina are being voluntarily recalled.

Nestlé Purina has voluntarily recalled some lots of dog food due to vitamin and mineral issues. The company only wants to pull wet dog food sold in 10-oz. plastic tubs in certain lots.

The following brands with both a “Best Before” date range of June 2017 to August 2017 and production code range starting with the first four digits of 5363 to 6054 are affected.

– Beneful Prepared Meals Wet Dog Food in 10-oz. Tubs
– Beneful Chopped Blends Wet Dog Food in 10-oz. Tubs
– Pro Plan Savory Meals Wet Dog Food in 10-oz. Tubs (limited to five varieties)

The reason for the recall, posted to Purina’s website, occurred because internal quality tests revealed that some 10-oz. wet dog food tubs might not contain the recommended level of added vitamins and minerals.

If you’ve purchased the product, the company urges you to discontinue feeding the food to your dog and discard it. For more information on the dog recall and to receive a refund for affected products contact Purina online or at (800) 877-7919.
