Retired Man Builds Dog Train for His Rescue Dogs

Eugene Bostick found a creative way to travel with his dogs.

Eugene Bostick, an 80-year-old retiree, lives on a farm in Fort Worth, Texas with his brother. The brothers noticed people abandoning their dogs at the end of the dead-end street they live on. Caring about animals too much to do nothing, the Bosticks took the dogs in, fed them and even took them to the vet to be spayed and neutered, The Dodo reports.

Living on a farm has provided the dogs plenty of space to run and play, but Bostick thought it might be fun to take them on little trips throughout the town. What he’d soon find out, however, was the best mode of transportation for these trips.

“One day I was out and I seen this guy with a tractor who attached these carts to pull rocks. I thought, ‘Dang, that would do for a dog train,’” Bostick told The Dodo. “I’m a pretty good welder, so I took these plastic barrels with holes cut in them, and put wheels under them and tied them together.”

Bostick takes his nine rescue dogs on the dog train at least once a week. Bostick told The Dodo that he’ll continue taking the dogs on the dog train for as long as he’s able – an activity that seems to be fun for Bostick, but even more fun for the dogs.

“Whenever they hear me hooking the tractor up to it, man, they get so excited. They all come running and jump in on their own. They’re ready to go.”

What dog wouldn’t want to take a ride on the dog train?
